Australia and India will be playing their last Test series before the World Test Championship Final 2023 in India. This will be a 4-match test series and the first test match will be in Nagpur. Mitchell Starc ruled out of First Test
Mitchell Starc has been officially ruled out of the first test starting 9th February in Nagpur. Although Starc has been added to the 18-man squad of Australia, he will be unavailable for the first test. Starc was injured with a finger Tandon during the boxing day test against South Africa and he was also ruled out of the third test against South Africa in Sydney. Australian selectors confirmed that Starc will be available from the 2nd Test in Delhi
Australia selected 4 Spinners for India Tour
India has spin-heavy pitches, Therefore Australia has added 4 spinners to the squad. Obviously, The spin attack will be led by Nathan Lyon. Also, Lyon recently completed his 450 wickets in test cricket. Ashton Agar, Mitchell Swepson and Todd Murphy are the other 3 spinners added to the squad. Todd Murphy is the uncapped spinner and previously he impressed the selectors with his spin for Victoria. Mitchell Swepson has recently played in the sub-continent tests therefore he can impress with his leg-spinning variety.
Peter Handscomb and Matthew Renshaw played all four tests in India when Australia toured in 2017. On that 4-match tour, Renshaw scored 2 half centuries and Handscomb scored a match-saving 200-ball 72 not out in Ranchi.
